One-to-One vs Group Online Tutoring: What Changes?

Compare the learning experience of one-to-one and group tutoring by pace, feedback, participation and cost structure.

Start with the student, not the platform

The most useful tuition choice depends on the student’s curriculum, subject, current level and reason for seeking support. A learner preparing for a final exam needs a different plan from a younger student who needs weekly help understanding school topics.

What to check before you book

  • Does the tutor know the exact curriculum or exam board?
  • Can the tutor explain how lessons will address the student’s current gaps?
  • Will the student receive active practice and feedback, not only a lecture?
  • Is scheduling realistic around school and family commitments?
  • How will progress and next priorities be communicated?

Use a trial lesson well

A trial is most useful when you share a recent test, difficult topic or specific goal in advance. During the lesson, look for clear explanations, good questioning, active student participation and a sensible plan for what should happen next.

Next step

Explore our curriculum pages, browse subject tuition, or request a trial to discuss the student’s needs.
